Yet Again, No Haven for Righthaven
Righthaven LLC, a Las Vegas copyright infringement lawsuit filer, looks like it has essentially shut down amid numerous legal setbacks, after several judges have found that it had faulty copyright assignments or its infringement suits against mainly website operators/media defendants were protected by the fair use doctrine.
Well, it has suffered another hit--more attorney’s fees were ordered it, to the tune of $131,457 by U.S. District Judge Roger Hunt in Las Vegas in a Righthaven suit against Democratic Underground, a Washington, D.C.-based political website operator. That now brings the total attorney’s fees tally against Righthaven to $318,138, as ordered by various judges in Nevada and Colorado copyright cases.
Apparently, the only assets sold so far for creditors have been a website domain name (for $3,300) and its trademark (for $1,025).
