If We Read Them Right, A Big Portion Went to Attorney’s Fees/Costs.
We give a HAT TIP to Bruce Nye, a seasoned litigator who has been doing a very entertaining, informative blog called “Cal Biz Lit” for a number of years. We thank him for summarizing the 2013 settlement numbers for Proposition 65 cases in California, derived from the state AG’s (Alpert) report.
If we are reading the settlement numbers accurately, it looks like a grand total of 73-74% of reported Proposition 65 settlements went to paying attorney’s fees and costs.
Feel free to check for yourself on his blog, but Mr. Nye does present a detailed spreadsheet showing the breakdowns.
