Reasonableness Of Fees: LAUSD v. Torres Construction Is Now Published

Sizable Fee Award Affirmed Despite Slight $23,272.20 Reduction Even Though Heavily Redacted Fee Submissions Were Presented In Support Of Fee Request.

            On October 27, 2020, we posted on LAUSD v. Torres Construction Corp., Case No. B291940 (2d Dist., Div. 8 Oct. 26, 2020) (unpublished), where a lower court granted a $2.1 million fee award—a $23,272.20 reduction (13% of a smaller contested component)—even though heavily redacted fee invoices supported the substantial fee request based on a surety contract fees provision.  The 2/8 DCA published the decision on November 17, 2020 on both substantive contract/surety issues and the fee award.
