Lower Court Did Not Abuse Its Discretion In Appointing A Receiver To Help Enforce Spousal And Child Support Issues.
Any fans of HGTV likely know of Catherine (Cat) Cora, a well-known celebrity chef. In 2017, her marriage to Jennifer Cora was dissolved, with the lower court ordering Cat to pay $8,118 in monthly child support for four children, $9,500 in spousal support to Jennifer (who stayed at home with the children while Cat worked outside the house), and $440,000 to Jennifer’s divorce attorney. Cat eventually paid the $444k fee award, but she claimed not being able to afford the support in light of the pandemic. The lower court appointed a receiver in order to assist in the collection of the support awards, results all affirmed on appeal in Cora v. Cora, Case No. B308834 (2d Dist., Div. 6 Dec. 14, 2021) (unpublished).
