Motion Has Been Filed And Unsealed, With Opposition Due In The Future.
Just to show you how civil discovery is a financially draining part of litigation and is also the source of substantial sanctions motion for delay, one only needs to look at a motion filed by Plaintiffs in a privacy class action against Facebook (Meta)—In re Facebook Inc. Privacy User Litig., Case No. 18-md-02843-VC-JSC (N.D. Cal. Apr. 1, 2022) (Doc. No. 907-5) [previously sealed and now unsealed]. Based on comments at a prior hearing by the district judge presiding over the case, Plaintiffs are seeking $854,195.72 is discovery sanctions against Facebook and its counsel Gibson Dunn. No opposition has yet been filed, but it would be ironic if the defense wants more time given the district judge’s earlier comments chastised them for delays in producing information. We shall see!
