Job Satisfaction Is Less Than Half; Minimum Billing Requirements Are Still Prevalent; And Hybrid Working Is Still In Vogue.
Based on a survey of 868 attorneys (85% of which were at law firms), Bloomberg Law has released its Workload and Hours H2 2022 survey. Here are the highlights from the survey:

- Average hours worked per week = 49 hours; average hours billed = 39 hours.
- Only 47% of lawyers felt satisfied with their jobs, with many suffering from numerous stress symptoms (disrupted sleep being the most predominant symptom).
- Weekly exercise was the largest self-care activity utilized by lawyers.
- 65% of respondents had minimum hourly billing quotas, with the average billable hours required being 1745 years per year, and with the responding attorneys actually billing 1799 hours per year.
- The average number of non-billable hours for lawyers during the second half of 2022 was 233 hours.
- 64% of respondents indicated that they were working hybrid, both in the office and remotely, not unexpected based on how the pandemic altered work life.
